Embarking on Ten Years of Experiments with Definition
23 December 2007 : As the earth began a new orbit around the sun, we assembled at the studio to make an impromptu mural together, a placeholder of sorts . When at Anchor House of Artists we speak of 'experiments in definition' , we mean that by naming ourselves as artists for what we labor at, we have claimed the powerful right to define our experience on our own terms. At its best this is how a studio-life can work: to activate the imagination to the service of the intelligence.
Above is the mural at the end of the day. It is done in tinted house paint on a 8'x4' cradled panel . Ten artists participated as seen in the little photo insets to the upper right . The mural was installed for a brief exhibit at the new art-space at 126 Main Street, Northampton called WINDOW. Here it is seen illuminated at night in January 2008.
